We went back to Flower Mound to see Jackie and wish her a Happy New Year and to take Dani to DFW airport to send her back home.
Then we started our trek back to San Diego, got as far as Eloy, AZ when our RV broke down. Something went wrong with the DEF system. We broke down in a safe place and were able to get a tow to a local diesel repair shop. They replaced the DEF doser and the computer component. Still couldn't clear the computer codes on the engine. So after 3 days, we drove to SD in our Honda CRV and left the RV in Eloy. They are now thinking it is the electrical harness to the DEF system but say it will be 12 - 14 weeks to get the part! They are trying to repair the wiring on their own. In the meantime, we stayed with Bob and Sharon for a few days and then we moved in with Janette.

New Orleans, LA
A Creole tradition in New Orleans is to have a Reveillon Dinner, which is a multi-course dinner. We went to the Bistreaux (in the French Quarter) to try out this tradition. We had a wonderful meal with wine pairing for each course.
They had a jazz band at the restaurant, the Swinging Gypsies. Note that the female has tap shoes on and brought her own little dance floor. She used her tap shoes to play the percussion parts. Very clever.
They played some soft jazz, so Graham and I had a Christmas Eve dance.
Bourbon Street:
We sought out a Christmas light event but when we got there the line was super, super long. We drove through and saw what we could.
Christmas Day we had breakfast and then opened our gifts.
We then went to the NOLA Christmasfest. The website made it sound like it would be pretty spectacular but it was designed mostly for kids. They had decorated Christmas trees and some cool gingerbread houses on display. A few vendors, an ice skating rink and games for kids.
Walking back to our car we found this great tribute to Hurricane Katrina victims. Graham had gone to New Orleans after the Hurricane to help with security.
That night we walked through the Waldorf Astoria.
What a fun Christmas day!
On Dec. 26 we went to Chalmette Battlefield, where American forces fought the British. American forces lost 20 men to the British's 7000!
A must see when in New Orleans is the WWII Museum.
We went to a plantation during the day on New Year's eve and to Jackson Square at night for walking tour which was a lot of fun.

In between sightseeing we went to Hammand, LA and traded in our 2009 CT Coachworks Siena for a 2013 Entegra Aspire. What a way to start the New Year.
January 1, time to head back to Dallas Ft Worth area so that Dani can catch her flight back home.
