Orchard Beach, ME

Kit and Joni picked this campsite because it was close to the L.L. Bean stores and outlet.  We took a day to go shopping.  They had this cute boot-mobile outside.

Next stop Bedfor, ME.

Bangor, ME

We stayed at the Pumpkin Patch RV Resort in Herman, ME.  It was close to Bangor, so we took a drive into town.  They have a 31' Paul Bunyon statue to honor the lumbermen.

We drove through Whitney's Historical district where Stephen King's home is and also some other interesting houses.

Note the bats and spiders in the fencing of King's home.

Interesting statue in the yard

One of the things listed to see in Bangor is the Mount Hope Memorial Gardens, so that was our next stop.

Acadia National Park, 2021

A nice drive through Acadia National Park. Cherie was happy to get a stamp for her national parks passport book.

The fog came and went throughout the day.

One of the few sandy beaches in Maine.

Thunder Hole, the water rushes in, hits the back of the cavern and makes a "thunder" noise.

To end the day, we had dinner in Bar Harbor. The guys had fish and chips and the ladies had shrimp and chips. We were going to have lobster, but the market price was $45 a person.  So instead, we bought lobsters the next day. The store owner steamed them for us and when Graham and Kit got home, Graham broke down the lobster for us. It was on Graham's bucket list to have a Maine lobster while here.

The fall colors are starting to come in.

Grand Island, NY

(9/10) We went to another Frank Lloyd Wright home, called the Martin House.  Couldn't tour the inside because they were having a special event, however, the outside was pretty cool.

As usual, Graham snuck in an open door and was
able to take a picture of this garden retreat inside

The next day we went to Old Fort Niagra.

Fort Niagara's connection to Freemasonry.  William Morgan
wrote and published an article exposing the secrets of Freemasonry
He was kidnapped and taken to Fort Niagara where he mysteriously disappeared

Helped to fight in the battles.  Her husband was captured and
she remained at the fort.  When the fort was under attack she
would carry "hot shots" to the cannon batteries

For dinner, we went to the Anchor Bar where the original Buffalo chicken wings were invented.

After (about 10 wings left)
