Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument

Our outing for today was to the Fossil Beds in Hagerman.  We were appointed finding the visitors center closed, where most of the exhibits and information are located.  However, we made the best of the trip and drove out to the monument area anyway and found a site with about a half dozen exhibit signs stating that they found the Pliocene artifacts on the bluff across the way.  They also had Oregon Trail exhibit signs. That's why they call traveling an adventure, some days are good and some not so.

Cherie thought this person was full of themselves.

We think these are the wagon ruts.

We stopped for lunch at Bullets and Brew because the ad said they sold guns, ammunition and pastries and such, so we thought it would be interesting.  We arrived around 4 when they were just closing and we found that they did sell guns and ammo but the second half of their store was a coffee shop not a brewery. :(  they recommended that we go next door to the Riverboat restaurant where we all had Idaho Trout fish and chips.

Trout with onion rings.

Sharon found a map showing where the local falls could be found, so our next stop was to Niagra Springs. What a pleasant find. There were falls all along the sides of the hill in the park.

We found a trout hatchery at the end of the park.
