We arrived in Custer yesterday and got settled in the campground.
Today was another day filled with a lot of history and amazing sights. We started our day going to see where they are building the Crazy Horse Monument.

Native American craftwork. This basket was made from quills

Then we went to Mt. Rushmore.

These were mold made to help measure what needed to be sculpted out of the mountain. They put pointers on the models to measure at a 1/12 scale what they would need to measure the mountain. The pointer had a round piece of metal on the top of the heads and then they measured down with a plumb to secure their measurements.

| Cute lights in the cafe showing how the workers sat on bosun chairs with ropes to insert dynamite and finish sculpting. |
We finished off the day with a drive through Custer State Park and drove the Needles Highway.

The eye of the needle.
